Cute little Beck had his first trick-or-treating experience. He found out that after recieving the free candy it is not necessary Halloween custom to then go in and have a playdate at each house. The candy was just not enough for Beck, he would get his candy from the cute little kids that handed it to him, and then proceed to waltz right on in to their house in attempt that they would then "play" with him. This was very unsuccessful for him and after a few doorstep tantrums we began to get the jist of the whole process. Life is sure hard when your 2 huh??
We had a great night doing the trick-or-treating business and then ended with some Cafe Rio and a soak in the hot tub with Jake and Linds...aahhhh....

Trunk-or-Treat
We decided that it would be a good "warm-up" round to take the kids to the ward Trunk-or-Treat on the 29th and see how they would do with the whole Trick-or-Treating business this year. They were so dang cute and since the Gunns were heading to St. George the next day it was the only time we got to see both the kids in their costumes.
The event was very short lived because of the freezing cold temps, but there was plenty of candy eating and hot chocolate drinking. A great way to get in the Halloween / Trick-or-Treating mood.

Carin' for Karen 5K
Last Saturday we (meaning pretty much the whole fam) got together at Sugarhouse Park for the Carin' for Karen 5K. This was put on by some really good friends of ours from St. Geroge and was for a fantastic cause. There was no better place to be on a Saturday than supporting those we love!!

An afternoon in the canyon....
There truly are the most amazing colors in the mountains this time of year, and there is something even better about being in them. Parker, Kim, Beck, and I spent a great afternoon just walking trails, climbing into caves, and throwing leaves. Oh, and of course "borrowing" marshmallows from other picnic-ers.
Beck is at such a fun age where he wants to be independent and "BECK DO". He is such a boy boy. He loved climbing on all the rocks and throwing sticks into the river, and of course finding bugs, squishing them, and then making a snoring sound as if to say....look now i put the bug to sleep. Where do boys learn this stuff? And why do they all do the exact same things and make the same silly noises??
Here are a few pics of our adventures up the canyon.

Big Boy
We were down in the basement a few weeks ago and Beck found the swing. Of course he wanted to bring it up and play with it. I thought he wanted to put toys in it and swing them.... But no... Beck wanted to climb in. He is WAY over the weight limit for the poor swing and it was creaking and making noises that only allowed him to stay in for a few moments. It was just long enough for me to grab this priceless pic of a my big boy swinging. I feel like it wasn't that long ago that he was just new and tiny and swinging in this little swing. The whole experience made me just a little baby hungry.

Utah State Fair 2009
Where so I even begin with the Utah State Fair. A place where you can buy deep fried EVERYTHING, sculptures made from butter, go on a thrill ride that has been set up hours before you climb aboard, and see a 300 pound pumpkin all in the same day. It is a lot to take in. Luckily we had "grandpa" with us who had come up from St. George, and attended the fair both days prior to us taking the kids.
We mostly hit up the livestock which Beck and Gracie LOVED! Gracie went up to every animal in that who fair and said "oohhh lookatthe ___ fill in the blank" and Beck was pretty much in awe of everything around him. We packed a lot in one day and the kids dids really well. The final touch to a great day was getting Beck and Gracie to go on the pony ride, or "wide" as Beck says(they were both too scared when we took them to the petting zoo at Gardner Village last weekend). My dad was totally in his element and it was so great to have him there with both the grandbabies.
It's always a challenge taking Beck to do things, but at the end we are always so glad we did it. Thanks Dad for such a great time!!

Pictures Un-Blogged
I decided that I remember everything through pictures and I couldn't let these ones slip through the blogging cracks. I can't remember anything, and yet I can look at a picture of something and remember the way it smelled that day... Why, I don't know? I just need to take lots of pictures I guess.
Here are some random "scraggler" pictures that I never got around to blogging about. I don't know why - maybe it's because i've been chasing Beck around all summer and trying to fit in as much as possible.
Going on a "wide" at Tony and Jess's house. Fearful at first, cowboy in 5 minutes.
I think my favorite candid shot of the kids at Millrace park. So hot that day!
Fed the ducks and ate cafe rio at the park with Katie and Ben. So great to have them here finally!!!
Days of 47 Rodeo. Beck was very scared to go in at first, but warmed up after 5 min and loved looking at all the animals.
